Our carbon footprint 2026

We want to know where we stand instead of just talking about sustainability. That is why we drew up a climate balance for 2026 according to the international GHG Protocol standard. Result: around 54 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. Almost 90 per cent of this comes from our guests travelling here by car. The campsite operation itself causes around 6 tonnes, mainly through the methane from our sheep and goats.

In 2026 our photovoltaic system generated around 18 megawatt hours of electricity. By our estimate, our 260 fruit trees store 1.5 to 3 tonnes of CO₂ a year, roughly as much as our animals emit. We report these contributions separately and do not offset them. That is why we do not call ourselves climate neutral.

What you can do: come by train, bike or car pool and rather stay a few nights longer. Cyclists are very welcome here.
